Hello internet friends!
I believe that blogs are valuable because it’s a free way to get information around, it’s like a ripple effect. For example, in 2005 I saw Paramore live. I went to school the next day and was going on and on about them and telling people to check them out. I might have told 5 of my close friends about them. I got 4 out of the 5 friends to love them, those 4 friends went on to tell their 5 friends about Paramore and the cycle continued. Word of mouth is great marketing if you ask me. It’s free for companies to get their product out there.
For class this month I am in an intro to marketing class and we are talking about blogs. My target audience for this blog are people in my class, people who are interested in the same music I am, people who read blogs, people on my facebook, and potential employers.
I am a fan of blogs because they help me write down my feelings and they introduce me to some cool artwork. The blog that I mostly use is on Tumblr and that account is mostly for posting random thoughts and pictures. I do have a link for that blog posted on the right under my links section if you want to check it out. For this blog I want to use it for music. Music has and will always play a huge part in my life. I want to have reviews on new music that comes out, I want to share play lists that I have created, and I want to share my experiences and feelings that happen when I listen to certain things. Music is something that I am extremely passionate about and I want to share that with you!
Enjoy!
Chloe :D
I like how you said blogs are like a ripple effect. That is a way to think about blogs that I never really thought about. But I do agree with that statement. All it takes is one person to look and a blog and like it and then before you know it they pass the word along and that blog is now visited by hundreds maybe thousands of people in a very short amount of time. Especially when it comes to music you usually have to pay to hear the music. But with blogs as you said it is free. It is a great way to get known for new artists and for people that love music to find and hear what is new out there and that can help lead to the artists/musicians becoming known. Its almost the only way to get known today unless the musicians make it to the so called "reality" shows on TV. Look forward to seeing what else you add to your blog in the weeks to come.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100%. I will be the first to admit that I used to watch Jersey Shore and I loved it. When Jwoww and Snookie came out with their newish show, I was beyond excited to watch it, but then I watched the first episode and the song I Love It by Icona Pop came on and I thought that it was a really bad song, it has no dynamic or emotion to it. I was driving in my car one day and happened to turn on the radio and I was baffled that I Love It was playing on the radio! It makes me sad that people would rather listen to that song than something like Sleep by Azure Ray for example. :)
DeleteHey Chloe, great post!
ReplyDeleteI especially love your comment about having to listen to songs "that make you feel"!! Too often we're so receptive of music that has no benefit to us other than filling us up with pointless garbage that is not mentally/spiritually beneficial.
Don't get me wrong, I do listen to some mind numbing music that is "pointless garbage" but I prefer music that makes me feel or has emotion with it. Music is art and pointless songs are not considered musical art to me and it makes me really upset. It some times feel like we are taking music for granted.....
